About
Built because the paperwork had stopped meaning anything
Walk into most commercial kitchens and you will find a folder of signed forms that nobody has read and that prove very little. The work is usually being done properly. The record just does not show it.
The problem is not effort
Kitchen teams are not careless. They are busy, understaffed at the worst moments, and handed a compliance system designed around the convenience of whoever has to file it rather than whoever has to complete it.
So the forms get filled in at the end of service, from memory, in one handwriting. Everyone involved knows this. The folder is theatre, and the first time it matters is the one time it cannot help you.
The answer is not a stricter form. It is to capture the record at the moment the work happens, from the person doing it, and to make every record connect to the next one so a problem cannot quietly disappear between them.
What we hold to
Six principles we build against
These are not aspirations on a wall. Each one has turned down a feature somebody asked for.
-
Compliance is a by-product
It is what is left over when the day is done properly. If your team is doing extra work to be compliant, the system is wrong.
-
Safety decisions must be explainable
Anything that decides whether a site is safe has to be a rule a person can read, challenge and show to an inspector. Not a score from a model.
-
Integrate rather than replace
You already have systems for people, assets and money. We are not going to build worse versions of them to keep you inside ours.
-
Design for the hardest user
If it does not work for a new starter with wet hands during a Friday service, it does not work. The head office screen is the easy one.
-
Evidence is never editable
A record that can be quietly changed afterwards is not evidence. Mistakes are superseded in the open, with the trail kept.
-
Claim only what is built
Overclaiming in this category is dangerous. What you see on this site is what the product does today, which is also why you can trust what we say it will do next.
A principle, in practice
Competency is a rule you can read, not a score
Who is allowed to own which task is decided by training records with dates on them. When a certificate lapses, the work that person owned is handed on rather than quietly carrying on under a name that no longer qualifies. You can show an inspector the rule, the record and the date it changed, which is not something a number from a model can offer.
- Training, certificates and right to work in one record
- Expiry warnings weeks ahead, not on the morning
- A lapse reassigns the work rather than hiding it
