Temperature monitoring

The reading that cannot be quietly rounded down

Temperature is the control point everything else hangs off, and it is the one most often recorded from memory at the end of service. Prepd360 takes the reading where the equipment is, from the person who took it, against a range they cannot edit.

The problem with paper

Why temperature logs stop meaning anything

  • Written up at close

A column of plausible numbers in one handwriting, filled in from memory after service, is not a record of anything.

  • The range lives in somebody’s head

If the acceptable range is remembered rather than fixed to the equipment, it quietly widens whenever a reading is inconvenient.

  • A failure goes nowhere

An out-of-range number gets circled, maybe mentioned at handover, and is discovered months later by someone reading the folder.

What it does

Recorded at the equipment, by a named person

The reading is judged against the range on the asset, not on the form.
  • Tap or scan the equipment

Staff select the asset on the tablet or scan its QR label, so the reading is attached to a specific fridge rather than a row on a sheet.

  • The range comes from the asset

Every fridge, freezer, hot hold and blast chiller carries its own safe range. It is set once, centrally, and cannot be changed at the point of entry.

  • Confirmed with a personal PIN

No shift, no check. Each reading is attributed to a named person on an open attendance, on a known device.

  • A failure stops the submission

An out-of-range reading will not save on its own. The tablet asks what was done, opens an issue, flags the equipment and alerts a manager.

The moment it matters

Eight point four, when the range is one to five

A member of staff taps the walk-in and enters the reading. On paper, this becomes a circled number. Here, the next thirty seconds decide whether it becomes a managed problem or a hidden one.

  • The tablet refuses the submission until an action is recorded
  • A corrective action opens against that fridge, with an owner
  • The manager is alerted immediately, not at handover
  • Closure requires evidence, not an assertion that it is fine now
  • The whole sequence stays attached to the asset history
The range it was judged against lives on the asset.
